China International Industry Fair (CIF) is sponsored by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society (CMES), and organized by CMES and Shanghai MF Sinoexpo International Exhibition Co. Ltd. It was first held in 1992 and then held twice a year. Since 1994, the fair has become an annual event. With exhibiting floor space of about 12,000 square meters, CIF has attracted more than 400 companies from about 16 countries. Almost 30,000 professionals visited the fair. The show has been listed as one of the regular international exhibitions supported by the State Administration of Machinery Industry.

. 327 companies from 16 countries and regions participated in the 6th China International Industry Fair held at Shanghai International Exhibition Centre in November,1998, including U.S.A., Japan, France, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Bulgaria, Singapore, Austria, Korea, Belgium, Malaysia, Denmark, China as well as Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan, the national pavilions of Russia, Japan, USA and Germany. The fair attracted about 30,000 visitors from 12 countries.

The 7th China International Industry Fair will be held at Shanghai Mart on October 20 - 23, 1999. The exhibits arrange from Material Handling, Industrial Automation, Surface Treatment & Coating, Manufacturing and Test & Measurement. National pavilions will also be organized and participate in the show. Hong Kong Trade Development Council will once again organize Hong Kong companies to attend the show.
